Fly, fly, my friends. I have my death-wound, fly
도망쳐 도망쳐 친구들아 나 치명적인 상처가 있어. 도망쳐
See there that boy, that murth’ring(murdering) boy, I say
저 살인하는 소년 저기 있잖아.
Who like a thief hid in dark bush doth lie
어두운 수풀에 숨어있는 도둑처럼 누워있다(숨어있다).
Till bloody bullet get him wrongful prey
(피를 가져오는) 화살이 잘못된 희생자를 가져 올 때까지.
So tyran(tyrant) he no fitter place could spy
그런 폭군이 그가 더 적절한 장소를 찾지 못했다.
Nor so fair level(aim) in so secret stay(stopping place)
혹은 그렇게 비밀스러운 장소에서 더 괜찮은 목표물을 찾지 못했다.
As that sweet black(pupil) which veils the heav’nly eye;
천상의 눈을 덮고 있는 그 달콤한 검은 눈동자 만큼 (숨을 장소 찾지 못함)
큐피드가 내가 사랑하는 여인의 동공 안에 숨어 있는 거임.
There himself with his shot he close(secretly) doth lay.
여인의 동공 뒤에서 화살을 가지고 은밀하게 숨어있다.
Poor passenger(passerby) pass now thereby I did
나는 아무런 죄 없는 근처를 지나가는 사람이었다.
And stayed, pleased with the prospect of the place,
잠시 머물렀다. 그 근처 장소의 경치에 즐거워 하고 있었던.
While that black hue from me the bad guest hid:
그 검은 눈동자가 나로부터 그 나쁜 손님(큐피드)을 감추고 있었을 때
But straight I saw motions of lightning grace
그러다가 나는 이윽고 번개와 같은 큐피드의 은총이 움직이는 것을 보게 되었다
(화살이 쏘아지는 것을 보게 되었다)
And then descried(saw) the glist’ring(glittering) of his dart(arrow);
But ere I could fly thence, it pierced my heart
그리고 분별했다 그의 화살이 번쩍 하는 것을
하지만 내가 도망치기 전에 화살이 내 심장을 찔렀다.
