Mark but this flea, and mark in this,

벼룩일지라도 한 번 주목해주세요, 그리고 이 안을 봐주세요

 

How little that which thou deniest me is;

당신이 나를 부인 하는 것이 얼마나 조그마한 것인지

 

Me it sucked first, and now sucks thee,

나를 이 벼룩이 먼저 빨았고 지금은 당신을 빨고 있어요.

 

And in this flea our two bloods mingled be;

그래서 이 벼룩 안에 우리 둘의 피가 섞이고 있어요.

 

Thou knowst that this cannot be said

A sin, nor shame, or loss of maidenhead,

당신은 이것이 죄거나 부끄러워할 것이라거나 처녀성을 잃은 것이라고 말할 수 없다는 것을 알지요.

 

Yet this enjoys before it woo,

And pampered swells with one blood made of two,

This flea is you and I, and this

Our marriage bed and marriage temple is;

Though parents grudge, and you, we are met,

And cloistered in these living walls of jet,

Though use make you apt to kill me

Let not to that, self-murder added be,

And sacrilege, three sins in killing three.

Cruel and sudden, hast thou since

Purpled thy nail, in blood of innocence?

Wherein could this flea guilty be,

Except in that drop which it sucked from thee?
